Hannah Dasher Says Married Celebrity Slid Into Her DMs, But Faith Kept Her From ‘Shortcuts’

Country singer Hannah Dasher said a married celebrity slid into her DMs but she declined due to her Christian faith.

Country singer-songwriter Hannah Dasher revealed that a famous, married celebrity once slid into her direct messages on social media — but she declined to pursue the opportunity, saying her Christian faith has kept her from taking shortcuts in the music industry.

During an appearance on the Like a Farmer podcast, the 40-year-old musician was asked about the “weirdest” DM she has ever received.

“Well, I don’t know that I could share it because they’re famous and married,” Dasher said, without naming the individual.

“So let me think of another one.”

She then added with a smile: “I could have gone on some pretty big tours, you know, if I wasn’t a Christian.”

The implication was clear: the unsolicited message from a well-known married figure could have opened doors — but at a cost Dasher was unwilling to pay.

Faith Over Fame

Dasher’s revelation offers a rare glimpse into the moral calculations that artists sometimes face behind the scenes in Nashville.

Rather than name the celebrity or elaborate on the DM, she let the comment stand as a testament to the values that have guided her career.

“Oh, I think about that one,” she said of the DM, suggesting it remains a notable moment in her journey.

Raised near Savannah, Georgia, Dasher grew up on ’90s country music and moved to Nashville after college to pursue her dream.

She worked selling boats and outboard motors at Bass Pro Shops — and was fired for writing songs on the job — before landing her first publishing deal with BMG Chrysalis in 2013.

She later signed with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in partnership with Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three.

Her first major songwriting cut came in 2017 when Brad Paisley recorded her co-written song “Go to Bed Early” for his Love and War album.

From TikTok Stardom to a Lost Record Deal

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dasher launched the viral TikTok cooking series “Stand By Your Pan,” blending Southern recipes with country music and comedy.

The series attracted more than a million followers and introduced her to a wider audience.

In 2021, she signed a recording deal with Sony Music Nashville and released her debut EP, The Half Record, featuring songs like “Leave This Bar” and “Girls Call the Shots.”

That same year, she was named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country and made multiple appearances at the Grand Ole Opry.

“I think losing my record deal was a huge humbling that needed to occur in me and it was the last thing that I thought was ever going to”

— the quote trailing off, but the sentiment clear.

Despite the industry’s temptations and a major label detour, Dasher continues to build her career on her own terms, guided by the same faith that kept her from taking that DM’s implied offer.
