Dutton Ranch Renewed for Season 2 After Record-Breaking Debut

Paramount+ has renewed the Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch for a second season, following a record-breaking debut that made the series the biggest original launch in the streamer’s history.

The nine-episode first season, which premiered on May 15, stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprising their beloved roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.

The renewal arrives as the season heads into its final two episodes, with the finale set for July 3.

Record-Breaking Launch

Paramount+ reported that Dutton Ranch drew 12.9 million global viewers in its first seven days, marking the biggest original series debut in the platform’s history.

The series also made a two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15, becoming the biggest cable series premiere since 2023 with 2.9 million total viewers.

Showrunner Change and Next Steps

The spinoff was created by Chad Feehan, who departed as showrunner ahead of the series launch.

Not all Taylor Sheridan-produced series have traditional showrunners; some titles rely on directors to handle those duties on set.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, Dutton Ranch counts Feehan, Sheridan, John Linson, David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Hauser, Reilly, and Keith Cox among its executive producers.

In addition to Reilly and Hauser, the cast includes Finn Little as Carter, Ed Harris as Everett McKinney, Annette Bening as Beulah Jackson, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind.

The series follows Beth and Rip as they relocate from Montana to South Texas, fighting to build a future while colliding with a ruthless rival ranch.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the renewal, Reilly said:

“We have some ideas about season two, with where we left season one.

We can’t talk about the ending, but we’re super excited about where it goes and so we already know sort of where the beginning is and that’s exciting.”

Hauser added: “If the audience continues to speak the way that they have about the show for the last 10 years or so, then I would love to continue to entertain them.”

With a massive audience and a rich world to explore, Dutton Ranch is poised to remain a cornerstone of the Yellowstone franchise.

Season two will continue Beth and Rip’s fight to hold onto their new life in South Texas, where “blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul.”
