Shueisha, the publishing giant behind some of the most iconic manga in history, has launched MANGA MILLION — a free digital platform that offers nearly 400 manga series in over 100 languages with no registration required.

The initiative, timed to the company’s 100th anniversary, makes approximately one million pages of manga available to readers worldwide, including blockbuster titles like ONE PIECE, Naruto, and Demon Slayer.

The platform went live on August 6, 2026, and marks one of the largest translation efforts in Shueisha’s history.

Nearly 300 titles are receiving their first-ever translations, with more than 150 of those being shōjo manga, a category often underserved in international markets.

The publisher confirmed that no AI translation was used for the project; all translations were done by human translators with the support of international licensing partners.

MANGA MILLION’s Library

MANGA MILLION’s library spans genres from shōnen and shōjo to seinen, featuring globally acclaimed series such as Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, SPY×FAMILY, Kingdom, Oshi No Ko, as well as beloved shōjo classics like Nana and Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You.

Additional titles include Reborn!, Yu Yu Hakusho, and special chapters such as Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Look Back.

“One of a publisher’s most important responsibilities is to connect creative talent with the public.

Japanese manga has flourished through the passionate artistry of countless manga creators and the unwavering support of readers, growing into a cultural phenomenon embraced across borders around the world.

MANGA MILLION was made possible through the incredible cooperation of these creators, and as we mark Shueisha’s 100th anniversary, we hope it will create new connections with readers worldwide, provide opportunities to experience the richness and diversity of manga culture, and inspire future generations of manga creators.”

Shueisha President and Representative Director Hideaki Hayashi said in a statement.

Breaking Language Barriers

The project was initiated by Shuhei Hosono, Editor-in-Chief of Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform.

Hosono explained the thinking behind the massive undertaking: “The project began with a simple question: what if we marked Shueisha’s 100th anniversary by translating one million pages of manga into 100 languages?

As we developed the concept, we also saw it as a way to address the language barriers that still prevent many readers around the world from accessing manga.

We hope that MANGA MILLION, an unprecedented translation initiative spanning 100 languages and one million pages, will spark new discoveries and connections between readers and Japanese manga.”

Available worldwide for a limited time, MANGA MILLION does not require any registration — readers can start browsing immediately.

However, Shueisha has not yet announced a definitive timeline for how long free access will remain open.

The company also operates the MANGA Plus platform and app, available outside Japan, China, and Korea, but MANGA MILLION represents a separate, broader push into global markets.

Developed through a company-wide collaboration spanning all of Shueisha’s editorial divisions, the project brought together shōnen, shōjo, seinen, and other genres to reach readers across linguistic and cultural borders.

“International licensing partners from around the world provided support for this unprecedented translation endeavor, making MANGA MILLION one of the largest initiatives in Shueisha’s history.”

The company statement noted.
