Slime Crowned Top Isekai of 2026 by Japanese Streaming Data
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime topped DMM TV’s 2026 isekai rankings in both user count and episode completion.
Japan has officially crowned That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as the nation’s top isekai anime of 2026, according to streaming data from DMM TV.
The series beat out heavyweights including Re:Zero Season 4, Mushoku Tensei Season 3, and Saga of Tanya the Evil to top both viewing user count and episode completion metrics for the spring 2026 season.
The rankings, based on real-time viewer data through June 30, 2026, signal which isekai titles are resonating most with Japanese audiences mid-year.
DMM TV’s Dual Metrics
DMM TV, one of Japan’s largest anime streaming services, released the official ranking report evaluating two key performance indicators: the Spring Anime Viewing User Count (overall viewing scale) and the Spring Anime Episode Completion ranking (users who watched every episode through June 30 without skipping).
Together, these metrics measure how deeply viewers immersed themselves in a particular series.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime dominated both categories, taking first place in episode completion and user count. Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4 secured second place in episode completion and third in total viewing users.
The only other isekai title to appear on both lists was The Strongest Job is Not Hero or Sage, But Apparently Appraiser (Provisional)?, which placed fourth in completion and sixth in user count.
Competing Isekai Heavyweights
2026 has been a notable year for the isekai genre, marked by the return of major popular titles. Alongside Slime and Re:Zero, the spring lineup included the long-awaited second season of Saga of Tanya the Evil and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3.
While these series set a high standard with production quality, the DMM TV data settles the debate on which title stood at the pinnacle. Only the latest seasons of each series were considered for the rankings.
Manga Sales Confirm Dominance
The anime’s dominance extends to print. According to statistics released by PR Times, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (original story: Fuse, manga: Kawakami Taiki, character design: Mitsuba/Kodansha) has officially become the biggest isekai manga of the first half of 2026.

The report analyzed ebookJapan’s official manga sales rankings from January 1 to June 30, 2026, separating titles by demographics and genre. The same series topped the isekai category, reinforcing its status as the genre’s current apex across both anime and manga.
With streaming viewership and digital sales both pointing to Slime as the definitive champion, the data suggests that Rimuru Tempest’s adventures continue to capture the largest and most dedicated audience in Japan.
The rankings leave little doubt about which isekai title is leading the pack halfway through 2026.
