Spider-Man: Brand New Day Hits $700M Domestically in 13 Days, Fastest Ever
Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed $700 million domestically in 13 days, the fastest ever.
Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the fastest film in history to cross $700 million at the domestic box office.
It reached the milestone in just 13 days and broke the 16-day record previously held jointly by Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame.
The Tom Holland-starring superhero film collected $704.5 million in North America as of Wednesday, according to the studio.
That figure places the film at No. 6 on the all-time domestic chart, having already moved past Black Panther‘s $700.4 million.
Only five films now sit ahead of it: The Force Awakens ($936.6 million), Endgame ($858.3 million), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($814.8 million), Avatar ($785.2 million) and Top Gun: Maverick ($722 million).
Brand New Day Outpaces No Way Home
Brand New Day is running 31% ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home at the same point in its release.
That 2021 predecessor ended its domestic run at $804.7 million.
The current film opened to a record $360 million domestically — surpassing Endgame for the biggest opening weekend ever — and earned the highest-grossing first week in domestic box office history.
It flew past $1 billion globally in six days, the second-fastest film to do so after Endgame.
Internationally, the film has added $1.108 billion, overtaking No Way Home‘s $1.106 billion to become Sony’s highest-grossing release overseas.
The figure ranks Brand New Day at No. 10 on the all-time international chart.
Combined, the film’s worldwide total stands at $1.8 billion after two weekends of release.
Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman framed the run as evidence that theatrical exhibition remains robust.
“All the geniuses who said that theatrical movies were dead, they’re not necessarily right. Actually, the theatrical marketplace is booming right now, and I’m excited about it. So I’m very optimistic.”
With minimal competition through the rest of the summer, the film is positioned to challenge benchmarks that have stood for years.
Industry observers note the film could become the first to reach $1 billion domestically.
Globally, only seven films have ever crossed $2 billion — Avatar, Avengers: Endgame and Titanic among them.
Avatar ($2.9 billion) and Endgame ($2.7 billion) remain the two biggest releases worldwide after several re-releases, though Brand New Day is closing fast.
The film also set a Sony record across 26 individual international markets.
Top-performing territories include China ($197.6 million), the United Kingdom ($95.4 million), Mexico ($70.8 million), France ($56 million), India ($55.7 million), Brazil ($52 million), South Korea ($46.7 million), Germany ($42.4 million), Australia ($42.1 million) and Italy ($34.1 million).
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, Brand New Day carries a $225 million production budget.
It hails from producers Marvel Studios and Amy Pascal.
The film centers on Holland’s Peter Parker as he endures a lonely existence before an unseen foe tracks him down.
The success of Brand New Day, alongside fellow summer hits The Odyssey and Toy Story 5, helped the 2026 summer box office surpass $4 billion this week.
It is only the second time the prime moviegoing season has reached that level since the COVID pandemic, after the Barbenheimer-driven summer of 2023.
Brand New Day is expected to lead the domestic box office again this weekend with an estimated $57 million to $72 million.
Newcomers include Warner Bros.’ The End of Oak Street, starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, and Paramount Animation’s PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie.
