‘Fist of the North Star’ Reboot Gets Second Cour in 2027

Warner Bros. Japan has officially confirmed that the second cour of Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken, the rebooted anime adaptation of Tetsuo Hara’s landmark manga, will premiere in 2027.

The announcement arrived on Friday, June 26, 2026, coinciding with the finale of the first cour’s 14-episode run.

The studio also released a 15-second preview video teasing the 15th episode, which will serve as the launch point for the second quarter of episodes.

The first cour debuted on April 10, 2026, with a two-episode premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 at 25:00 JST (effectively 1:00 a.m. on April 11).

Streaming and Creative Team

Amazon Prime Video is streaming the series worldwide, having licensed the 2026 Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken anime for select countries and territories.

The streaming giant has been the exclusive global home for the reboot since its launch.

Leading the production at TMS Entertainment is director Hiroshi Maeda, whose previous credits include director of photography on Hellsing Ultimate and Aquarion.

Kazuma Ogasawara, an episode director for Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These – Collision and Oshi no Ko (TV 2), serves as assistant director.

Kazuhiko Inukai (Girlfriend, Girlfriend) is handling series scripts.

Naoki Hisatsune, who worked as a key animator on earlier Fist of the North Star adaptations including Legend of Kenshiro and Legend of Toki, is designing the characters.

Kōji, the 3D director for Medalist, is serving as animation director.

Composer Yūki Hayashi, best known for his work on My Hero Academia, is providing the musical score.

NIA Animation and Kishida Studio BACU are collaborating on production.

Voice Cast and Legacy

The main voice cast is led by Shunsuke Takeuchi as Kenshiro, Daiki Yamashita as Bat, and M.A.O as Rin.

The ensemble also includes Koji Yusa as Shin, Saori Hayami as Yuria, Yuichi Nakamura as Rei, and Ruriko Aoki as Mamiya.

Fist of the North Star Season 2 announced for a 2027 release

The 2026 reboot marks the first full-length anime adaptation of Hara’s original manga in decades, bringing the post-apocalyptic martial arts saga to a new generation of viewers.

The series follows Kenshiro, the successor of the deadly Hokuto Shinken martial art, as he battles rival fighters across a desolate wasteland.

With the second cour now locked for 2027, fans will have to wait roughly a year to see where the story goes next.
