Princess Eugenie has welcomed her first daughter — a baby girl born Monday evening at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The child is her third with husband Jack Brooksbank, and Buckingham Palace announced the birth Tuesday, placing the newborn as the latest addition to the British line of succession.
Princess Eugenie, 36, and Jack Brooksbank, 40, announced the birth of their daughter, who weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces (3 kilograms) and has not yet been publicly named. The Royal Family confirmed the arrival in a statement shared on its official website and social media accounts.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.”
The statement added: “Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
Princess Eugenie’s first daughter
The newborn joins brothers August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, 5, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, 3. Eugenie, the younger daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, is the niece of King Charles III; Andrew is the king’s younger brother.
The couple announced the pregnancy in May, sharing a photo of their sons holding a sonogram image. Buckingham Palace separately confirmed the pregnancy at that time.
Eugenie celebrated the arrival on Instagram, sharing the first photo of her daughter. In the image, the newborn is lying on a hospital bed dressed in a pale pink knitted onesie and a white hat decorated with delicate colorful prints.
“Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie.”
Eugenie wrote alongside pink heart emojis.
Line of succession changes
Baby Girl Brooksbank is now 15th in line to the British throne, bumping her grand-uncle, Prince Edward, into 16th place. Eugenie is currently 12th in line, after the 2024 birth of her niece Athena Mapelli Mozzi.

August and Ernest follow their mother in the order. Prince Edward’s children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex, have been displaced to 18th and 17th in line, respectively. Princess Anne sits at 19th place.
The arrival gives Eugenie a daughter after two sons and places the new baby behind her brothers in the order.
