Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 6 Greenlit, Will Adapt Cohabitation Arc

The staff of the Rent-A-Girlfriend TV anime announced a sixth season, set to adapt the manga’s Cohabitation arc, following the conclusion of the fifth season on June 26, 2026.

The fifth season of Rent-A-Girlfriend premiered on DMM TV on April 8 at 10:00 p.m., then began its television broadcast on April 10 at 2:23 a.m. (effectively April 11) on the Animeism programming block on MBS, TBS, and CBC.

The season’s 12th and final episode aired on television on Friday, June 26, after streaming on DMM TV concluded on Wednesday. Directed by Kazuomi Koga, who returned after helming the first two seasons and the fourth season, the season comprised 12 episodes.

Technically, the fifth season is the previously announced second cour of the fourth season, meaning both the fourth and fifth seasons covered the Hawaiians arc.

With the conclusion of that storyline, the anime is now moving into the manga’s Cohabitation arc, a fan-favorite narrative stretch that promises new dynamics for the central characters.

Character designer Kanna Hirayama shared a commemorative illustration for the sixth season, featuring Kazuya, Chizuru, and Mini.

Hirayama, who has served as character designer since the first season, reprises her role for the upcoming season. Series composer Mitsutaka Hirota, who has worked on the anime since its inception, also returns.

Animation production is handled by TMS Entertainment Studio 6, which was credited for the fifth season after previous seasons credited TMS Entertainment broadly. The second and third seasons had production assistance from Studio Comet.

Director Kazuomi Koga, who replaced third-season director Shin’ya Une for the fourth season, is expected to return for the sixth season.

The main voice cast—Shun Horie as Kazuya Kinoshita, Sora Amamiya as Chizuru Mizuhara, Aoi Yuki as Mami Nanami, Nao Toyama as Ruka Sarashina, Rie Takahashi as Sumi Sakurasawa, and Yu Serizawa as Mini Yaemori—is expected to reprise their roles.

The fifth season was produced by the same core team, ensuring consistency in the anime’s visual and narrative style.

Mangaka Reiji Miyajima launched Rent-A-Girlfriend in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in July 2017.

The series has released 46 compiled volumes as of June 2026, with the 46th volume shipping on June 17. The anime adaptation began with its first season in July 2020, airing 12 episodes on the Animeism block.

Crunchyroll streamed the first season worldwide except in Asia. The second season followed in July 2022, also on Crunchyroll, and the third season premiered in July 2023 with the same streaming arrangement.

The fourth season debuted in July 2025 on DMM TV and d Anime Store, ending in September after 12 episodes.

The fourth season was originally slated to air for two cours with a break in between, a plan that ultimately resulted in both the fourth and fifth seasons as they were produced.

Crunchyroll streamed each season as it aired, including the fifth season.

No release date has been confirmed for the sixth season as of this writing.

With the announcement arriving immediately after the season five finale, fans can expect the romantic entanglements of Kazuya, Chizuru, and their circle to continue in the Cohabitation arc.
