‘Sakamoto Days’ Season 2 Sets January 2027 Netflix Premiere

Netflix has officially confirmed that Sakamoto Days Season 2 will premiere worldwide exclusively on the platform in January 2027.

The announcement, which arrived alongside a new teaser trailer and key visual, reveals that the upcoming season will adapt the JCC Infiltration Arc, following legendary former hit man Taro Sakamoto and his protégé Shin as they infiltrate Japan’s assassin training academy.

The second season picks up after the events of Season 1, which concluded on September 22, 2025. Sakamoto and Shin go undercover at JCC (Japan Cleaner Culture) to gather intelligence on the elusive figure known as “X,” or Slur.

Meanwhile, members of the elite assassin task force ORDER — Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi — head to Kyoto on assignment, only to be ambushed by an unexpected assailant.

As conspiracies deepen, the shared history of Sakamoto, Nagumo, Rion, and Slur is finally brought to light.

New Director, Expanded Cast

Season 2 brings a directorial change. Daisuke Nakajima, who directed episode 22 of the first season, takes over as director. Masaki Watanabe, the first season’s director, remains attached as supervising director at TMS Entertainment.

Nakajima said in a statement that he intends to “spare nothing” in animating the franchise’s action, while crediting Watanabe’s work on the first season.

Three new cast members join the production for newly introduced characters: Kikunosuke Toya as Amane Yotsumura, Misa Watanabe, and Shinshū Fuji. Taku Kishimoto and Yo Moriyama return as series composer and character designer, respectively.

The teaser trailer also previews key characters from the previous season, including Akira Akao and Natsuki Seba, alongside new faces such as Yotsumura, a founding ORDER member, and Satota, Taro Sakamoto’s teacher.

Manga Momentum

The Sakamoto Days manga, written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki, began serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2020 and has become one of the magazine’s fastest-growing shōnen series. The manga has surpassed 15 million copies in circulation worldwide within six years of its debut.

Sakamoto Days Season 2 Winter 2027 return

The first season of the anime adaptation premiered on Netflix in January 2025 and aired in two parts, with Part 2 releasing weekly starting July 14, 2025. Season 1 was also broadcast on TV Tokyo-affiliated channels in Japan, though broadcast details for the upcoming season have not yet been announced.

The series was available in Japanese with subtitles in many languages and received dubbed versions in major international markets, including English. Netflix has not yet detailed Season 2’s dub rollout but is expected to continue its multilingual release strategy.

The Season 2 teaser art features Sakamoto and Shin back-to-back as they prepare to infiltrate JCC. Sakamoto grips a pen — the weapon he is randomly assigned in the JCC entrance exam — while Shin sports a new glove, foreshadowing the fierce battles ahead.

The teaser trailer offers a first look at Sakamoto undercover as a student teacher disguised as his wife Aoi, while Shin gathers intel as a student inside JCC.
