Seventeen Makes K-Pop History With Second Full-Group Contract Renewal

All 13 members of K-pop group Seventeen have renewed their contracts with Pledis Entertainment for the second time, the agency announced Tuesday — a rare feat in an industry where full-group renewals, even once, are far from guaranteed.

Members currently serving in the military will sign after completing their duties, while the remaining members have already finalized the new agreements.

The renewal was first teased by group leader S.Coups at the final encore concert of Seventeen’s “New_” tour in April.

The deal marks one of the first instances in K-pop history where an entire group has renewed its contracts together twice, following an initial extension in 2021.

In a statement, Pledis Entertainment said: “We are delighted to share the good news with the fans, Carat.

United by the belief that nothing is impossible when they are together and by their shared goal to continue moving forward as Seventeen, all 13 members chose to renew their contracts.

We hope Carats will continue to be part of this journey toward eternity as members of Team SVT.”

The agency added: “Rather than simply promising ‘forever,’ Seventeen has demonstrated with its passion that it is constantly striving toward the ideal every day.

We are truly honored to begin another chapter with Seventeen.”

Seventeen echoed the sentiment in their own statement: “With the belief that there’s nothing we can’t achieve together and a shared desire to go further as a team, the 13 members have decided to continue together.

We ask our fans to join us in our promise to challenge eternity as part of ‘TEAM SVT.’”

Seventeen’s Record-Breaking Career

Since their debut in 2015, Seventeen has built a distinctive musical identity rooted in their self-producing approach, writing and producing much of their own material.

The group became the first K-pop act to exceed 5 million first-week album sales and set records for K-pop single-album highest sales and the first to surpass 5 million pre-order sales.

Beyond group work, the members have expanded their reach through unit and solo projects.

Sub-unit V8 — comprising THE 8 and Vernon — released their first mini album on June 29 and drew over 15,000 spectators to their “2026 VERNON THE 8 [V8] LIVE” on July 11–12.

Dino is set to drop a solo album under his alter ego “Pi Cheolin” on August 3.

Pledis Entertainment pledged continued support for Seventeen’s group, unit, and individual activities, and said it would lay the groundwork for a successful return to full-group activities once members complete military service.

The renewal signals rare long-term stability in K-pop, where seven-year contracts and subsequent renewals often lead to member departures or group disbandments.
