‘Soara and the House of Monsters’ Anime Adaptation Set for 2027

Kadokawa has officially announced a television anime adaptation of Hidenori Yamaji’s manga Soara and the House of Monsters, with the series slated to premiere in 2027.

The announcement arrived Wednesday alongside an ultra teaser promotional video, key visual, and the reveal of main cast and staff members.

Ikumi Hasegawa, known for voicing Pop Step in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, will lead the cast as protagonist Soara.

Ayumu Murase, best recognized as Shoyo Hinata in HAIKYU!!, joins her as the dwarf Kirik.

Creative Team Behind the Adaptation

Takaharu Ozaki, whose directing credits include BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-, Goblin Slayer, and Your Forma, is helming the project at studio FelixFilm.

Ayumu Hisao, known for series composition work on Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, I’m in Love with the Villainess, and Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life, is handling series scripts.

Tomoko Iwasa, whose credits span WAVE!! -Let’s go surfing!!, B-PROJECT Passion*Love Call, and Hakumei and Mikochi, is designing the characters.

Composer Hinako Tsubakiyama, who previously worked on May I Ask for One Final Thing?, Sabikui Bisco, and Shy, is writing the music.

Manga Background and Story

The Soara and the House of Monsters manga first launched on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website in November 2021.

Seven collected volumes have been published to date, with Shogakukan releasing the seventh volume on August 10, 2026.

Seven Seas Entertainment handles the English-language release and dropped the sixth volume on May 26, 2026.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the story: “Soara is a young orphan girl who was raised by knights and trained to battle the monsters that constantly attacked their kingdom.

“But by the time Soara is ready to join the fight herself, peace has been declared and her blade is no longer needed.

Searching for a new home and a new purpose, Soara stumbles across Kirik the dwarf, leader of the Monster Architects.

Suddenly, instead of fighting monsters, Soara finds herself working with Kirik to build comfortable homes for them!

In the process, will she discover a new home and family for herself?”

The premise positions the series within the increasingly popular “cozy fantasy” subgenre, where former warriors trade combat for domestic pursuits.

Yamaji drew a celebratory illustration to commemorate the anime announcement, shared across the franchise’s official social media channels.

With a 2027 premiere window and a strong creative team in place, the adaptation is poised to bring this unconventional monster-building tale to a wider audience.

Further casting announcements and a more specific release date are expected in the coming months.
