Aubrey Plaza Welcomes First Child With Christopher Abbott

Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in late July 2026.

Aubrey Plaza has welcomed her first child, a baby girl, with partner Christopher Abbott, according to sources.

The newborn arrived during the final week of July 2026, and made her public debut on Sunday when the couple was photographed in New York City following Abbott’s final Broadway performance in “Death of a Salesman.”

The couple was seen carrying their daughter on August 9, marking the baby’s first known public appearance. The arrival is the first child for both Plaza, 42, and Abbott, 40.

Broadway Night and a Newborn

For Abbott, the timing carried a rare convergence of personal and professional milestones.

His run in Broadway’s revival of “Death of a Salesman” closed the same day the new family of three stepped out together, with Plaza at his side and the infant cradled as they navigated Manhattan after the show.

Plaza first revealed her baby bump in April 2026, one day after People reported she was pregnant and due in the fall.

A source close to the couple told Page Six at the time that “they feel very blessed,” describing the news as “a beautiful surprise after an emotional year.”

Abbott confirmed his own anticipation in a May appearance on Today, calling the pregnancy “very exciting.” Plaza and Abbott previously worked together on the 2020 psychological drama “Black Bear” and the 2023 off-Broadway production of “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.”

The pair have not publicly detailed when their relationship turned romantic, and the baby’s name has not been announced.

New Chapter After Loss

The birth comes roughly 18 months after the death of Plaza’s estranged husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, who died by suicide in January 2025 at age 47. Plaza and Baena had reportedly been separated for several months before his death.

The couple had been together for a decade before marrying in May 2021, in a spontaneous at-home ceremony while wearing tie-dye pajamas.

Following his death, Plaza and Baena’s family released a joint statement describing their loss as an “unimaginable tragedy.” “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time,” the statement read.

Seven months after Baena’s death, Plaza opened up about her grief on her former Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast.

“Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you,” she told Poehler. “Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning.” Plaza described her grief as a “giant ocean of just awfulness,” a window into the emotional weight she carried into this new chapter of motherhood.
