‘The Morning Show’ Season 5 Filming in NYC, Sean Hayes Joins Cast
Apple TV+ has officially renewed its flagship drama The Morning Show for a fifth season, with production currently underway in New York City. The renewal was announced just before season four premiered on September 17, 2025.
The new season introduces several notable cast additions, including Emmy winner Sean Hayes, and is expected to debut in 2027 following the series’ established release pattern of premiering new seasons in the first half of the year.
Billy Crudup, 57, an Emmy-winning actor for his portrayal of Cory Ellison, was spotted filming scenes with Hayes on Wednesday afternoon (June 24) in Central Park. In between takes, the pair were seen laughing and joking around, suggesting a comfortable rapport.
For the scene, Crudup was holding a gold urn, adding an element of mystery to the proceedings. The choice of Central Park, a quintessential New York setting, underscores the show’s continued commitment to authentic on-location filming.
New Cast and Character Details
Sean Hayes, 55, will play Wyatt, the quick-witted older brother and manager of Brodie Hartman (Boyd Holbrook), according to Deadline. This marks Hayes’ biggest drama series commitment; his only previous drama credit was a three-episode arc on NBC’s musical drama Smash back in 2013.
His casting in season five was announced back in March, generating excitement among fans familiar with his comedic work. Alongside Hayes, several other new notable cast members have joined for the upcoming season, including Renee Rapp, Jesse Williams, and Jeff Daniels.
They join the returning core ensemble of Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Billy Crudup, ensuring the series maintains its star-studded pedigree.
Season 5 Production Timeline
Season four of The Morning Show began in spring 2024, almost two years after the events of season three, and concluded in November 2025 with a thrilling finale. Following that finale, the showrunner addressed the fate of six characters, though specific plot details remain under wraps.

The narrative has consistently employed time jumps, and fans should expect another significant leap forward in season five. Given that season four started nearly two years after season three’s conclusion, a similar gap could place season five’s events in 2026 or 2027, aligning with the expected 2027 premiere.
As of now, Apple TV has not announced the premiere date for season five. Given the pattern of releasing new seasons in the first half of the year, a 2027 arrival seems likely.
Back in April, Jennifer Aniston was spotted filming a red carpet scene in Los Angeles, indicating that production is taking place across multiple locations, with New York City serving as a primary filming site.
With a stacked cast including returning stars and intriguing new additions, the fifth season of The Morning Show is shaping up to be one of Apple TV+’s most anticipated releases. Production continues in Central Park and other locations as the series moves toward its eventual premiere.
