‘Outer Banks’ Final Season Sets August 2026 Premiere, Teaser Trailer Drops

Netflix has locked the premiere date for the fifth and final season of its hit adventure series Outer Banks, announcing that the Pogues’ last ride will begin on August 20, 2026.

The streaming giant released the first teaser trailer and new photos on Thursday, confirming the 10-episode season will drop as a single binge release, a departure from the split-season model used for Season 4.

The final season picks up in the aftermath of last season’s devastating finale, which saw Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) kill his own son, JJ (Rudy Pankow), in front of Kiara (Madison Bailey).

With their friend gone and the Blue Crown lost, the Pogues — John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara, Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) — find themselves stranded far from home and at their absolute breaking point.

Their mission is now a desperate race to reclaim their future and finally win the freedom they’ve been chasing since the beginning.

Uneasy Alliances and Familiar Threats

According to the official synopsis, the group must rely on their scrappy instincts and form an uneasy alliance with Rafe (Drew Starkey) to keep from falling apart for good.

“The threats are mounting: Groff remains at large, Dalia (Pollyanna McIntosh) and the Corsairs are closing in, and the Kooks are ensuring the Pogues have no home to return to.”

The teaser trailer, set to alt-J’s “Left Hand Free,” opens with a gut-punch moment as John B watches in horror while Cleo blows up his beloved van, the Twinkie.

The new season arrives nearly two years after the October 2024 premiere of Season 4, which Netflix split into two batches.

The entire 10-episode Season 5 will be released as a binge drop, signaling the company’s continued pivot away from the split-season model.

The trailer also shows the Pogues confronting Chandler Groff directly and paying tribute to their fallen friend, with the tagline “One Last Ride.”
