Six of 13: Seventeen’s Military Roster Takes Shape

Three members of Seventeen—Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino—will begin mandatory military service in September and October 2026.

Three members of K-pop group Seventeen — Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino — are set to begin their mandatory military service in September and October 2026. Their agency Pledis Entertainment announced the news on August 10.

Once the trio begins service, most of Seventeen’s 13 members will be in uniform by year’s end. Only three members will remain outside military obligations.

Mingyu is scheduled to begin his service on September 10. Seungkwan and Dino will enlist together on October 26.

All three will be unable to participate in group activities once their service begins. Pledis has prepared pre-recorded content to keep them connected with fans.

“The enlistment ceremony will be attended only by military personnel and family.”

Pledis issued the statement ahead of the enlistments. The agency asked supporters not to visit the training centers on the day.

Enlistment Assignments

Seungkwan and Dino will serve as army military band soldiers after completing basic training. Mingyu’s assignment differs: he will carry out his duties as a social service agent.

An alternative service path is typically assigned to those who do not serve in active-duty units. Pledis framed the period as one of continued connection rather than absence.

The Staggered Rollout Continues

Vernon is scheduled to enlist on August 20. DK will follow on September 8. By late October, six of the group’s 13 members will be serving.

Jeonghan completed his military service in June 2026 after enlisting in 2025. Wonwoo, Hoshi, and Woozi also enlisted in 2025 and have yet to finish their duties.

Three members — Joshua, The8, and Jun — are not South Korean citizens. They are not required to perform mandatory military service.

Transition Years in the Making

The enlistments confirm a timeline the group telegraphed during their June fan meeting at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium. Members said the remaining five would begin service in the second half of 2026.

That fan meeting came as Jeonghan’s discharge approached. It signaled the group’s awareness of the coming transition.

“Once Mingyu, Seungkwan, and Dino begin their military service, they will be unable to participate in Seventeen activities. However, they will continue to connect with Carat through a variety of content prepared in advance.”

Pledis closed its statement with a forward-looking appeal. The agency asked for continued love and support until the members complete service and return in good health.

For a group that toured the Philippines in January 2025 on the Right Here concert tour, the next phase will play out largely offstage. Six members in uniform by fall leaves Joshua, The8, and Jun as the only free members.
