Tanya the Evil II trailer premieres, Crunchyroll to simulcast new season

A new main trailer for The Saga of Tanya the Evil II debuted on July 1, 2026, giving fans their lengthiest look yet at the long-awaited second season.

The video reveals both theme songs and announces Eiji Hanawa as the voice of new character Calandro.

The anime is set to premiere on July 8 and will be simulcast on Crunchyroll as it airs.

Trailer Details

The trailer opens with aerial dogfights over muddy trenches, showcasing the signature ultra-violence of Carlo Zen’s isekai military fantasy.

“Why? RED induction” by MYTH & ROID is the opening theme.

“Weiter! Weiter!” by Aoi Yuki, who also voices protagonist Tanya Degurechaff, is the ending theme.

The new season picks up in June of the year CE 1923.

Tanya, a blond, blue-eyed young girl, enters the final curriculum of the Imperial Military Academy and trains at the third patrol line in the Norden Theater.

Her training, meant to be the first step toward a career as an aviation mage, takes an unexpected turn.

The trailer hints at the high-stakes duels between army mages that have defined the series.

Production Team

Takayuki Yamamoto, who served as co-storyboard artist and director on Negative Positive Angler Episode 3 and co-director on Episode 12, directs the new season at animation studio NUT.

Character designer Yuji Hosogoe and series composer Kenta Ihara both reprise their roles from the first season.

The returning voice cast includes Saori Hayami as Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakov, Shinichiro Miki as Erich von Rerugen, Tessho Genda as Kurt von Rudersdorf, Hochu Otsuka as Hans von Zettour, Daiki Hamano as Matheus Johann Weiss, and Yusuke Kobayashi as Vooren Grantz.

Newcomer Eiji Hanawa joins as Calandro.

The story follows a ruthless salaryman reincarnated as a destitute orphan girl in a war-torn world.

Now named Tanya Degurechaff, she uses her memories of a previous life and her skills as an aviation mage to survive, earning the nickname “the Devil of the Rhine.”

Series History

The Saga of Tanya the Evil first aired in January 2017 and was followed by a feature film in February 2019.

Season 2 was announced in 2021, but production details remained scarce until now.

During the hiatus, the cast appeared in the crossover short anime spinoff Isekai Quartet.

The series is based on Carlo Zen’s light novels, illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki and published by KADOKAWA.

The novels, which began in 2016, have reached 14 volumes as of 2023.

The story originated as a web novel on Arcadia before being adapted into print.

A manga adaptation by Chika Tojo and a spin-off manga titled Yoko Senki Shokudo also exist.

With the July 8 premiere now just days away, the new trailer and theme song previews have built considerable anticipation for the return of one of anime’s most distinctive isekai entries.
