Prime Video Renews ‘Invincible’ for Season 6; Jack Quaid Cast

Prime Video has renewed its animated series “Invincible” for a sixth season, making it the streamer’s longest-running original animated series. The announcement came during Prime Video’s first-ever panel at the Annecy International Animation Festival.

Executive producer and co-showrunner Robert Kirkman also revealed that Jack Quaid will join the voice cast for the upcoming fifth season as the villain Gravitator.

The renewal arrives months before the fifth season has premiered, a vote of confidence in a series that has only grown in popularity.

According to Kirkman’s production company Skybound Entertainment, season four — which just wrapped — was the most-watched to date, hitting the top 10 in more than 50 territories.

The show has also amassed over 7 billion views on TikTok.

The early renewal underscores Prime Video’s commitment to the franchise. With season six greenlit before season five has aired, the streamer is investing heavily in the animated series as a flagship property.

Kirkman Reflects on the Renewal

“One of the biggest rewards of building Invincible over the years has been witnessing how new audiences continue to connect with these characters and this world, almost 25 years after its creation.

Kirkman said in a statement provided to Deadline. The renewal makes “Invincible” Prime Video’s longest-running original animated series, surpassing previous title holders.

Gravitator Joins the Cast

At the festival, Kirkman and Prime Video head of animation Melissa Wolfe presented an in-room exclusive clip of Quaid’s character alongside a first-look image.

Quaid will voice Gravitator, an antagonist described as a gravity-manipulating villain. The casting marks the latest high-profile addition to a voice cast that already includes J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, and Steven Yeun.

The panel marked Prime Video’s first-ever appearance at Annecy, signaling the streamer’s growing focus on animation.

Series Background

Based on Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel co-created with Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, “Invincible” follows Mark Grayson, a teenager who becomes a superhero under his father Omni-Man.

The comic book series launched in 2003 and ran for 15 years, concluding after 146 issues with sales exceeding 6 million copies.

The award-winning graphic novel’s legacy, including critical acclaim, has informed the show’s storytelling.

During his masterclass at Annecy, Kirkman revealed that he once wrote a movie script for the series that was “absolutely horrible” and never produced.

The television adaptation has clearly found its footing, earning a sixth season renewal before its fifth has even aired.

Social Media and Future Seasons

The show’s social media presence is enormous, with over 7 billion views on TikTok according to Skybound, helping to drive new viewers to the series.

Season 4’s success bodes well for future seasons, as the series continues to grow its audience.

The series has become a cornerstone of Prime Video’s animation slate.

Season 5 is expected to premiere on Prime Video in 2027. With the early renewal for season 6, the show’s future is secure for years to come.
